Our Mark: A Redesign of the Malaysian Atheists Logo

I had been extremely tardy - almost a year late, in fact - in submitting my design for our group's logo and in my defence, I work about a 100 hours a week. Before I proceed to unveil my work, I shall preface this with our current emblem which was created by a fellow member who goes by the alias, Shanaz.

Speaking Up for a Separation

The Malaysian Insider columnist Azrul Mohd Khalib has written an article disparaging an event organised in Johor which is clearly an abuse of power by the State to pummel their views into the attendees, and a discussion of the need to separate Mosque from State.

A Sharing Session with a Politician

UPDATE: Date of sharing session changed to the 11th of May 2012 as a core member can't make it on the 9th of May.

UPDATE 2: My sincerest apologies. The previous dates on this article stated the month of April rather than May as the date for the proposed meeting. The mistake has since been rectified.

UPDATE 3: Expect a report of the meeting soon.

Malaysia Wants to Ban GLBT

In what can only be described as pure evil, the Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia or the Department of Information Malaysia just published the following statement on their Facebook page.

A Singaporean dance troupe has been denied a permit to perform here this weekend owing to their “indecent” costumes, a Malaysian dance organisation said today.

A Comment on Raja Nazrin Statement

RPK Will Raise Issue of Islam

The current much locally publicised debate between Raja Petra Kamarudin and Anwar Ibrahim to be organised by Wikileaks as part of a ten-episode series themed "The Wrold Tomorrow" promises to be more explosive than anticipated as RPK in his blog today intriguingly titled "I will debate Najib and Anwar on the subject of Islam" said:

Ibrahim Ali of PERKASA Calls for Law Against Apostasy

The Parliamentary representative of Pasir Mas and seemingly professional contrarian of universal values Ibrahim Ali has been quoted by the media as supporting a parliamentary act against apostasy.

“I think that a Akta Murtad (Apostasy Act) must be passed to handle the apostasy issue,” said the MP today while debating the motion of thanks for the royal address.

Removing Religion from Your MyKAD for non-Muslims

It is a very simple process to remove religion from your MyKAD, and about as fast with or without a queue at the National Registration Department (NRD). This involves a few steps to change citizenship details as outlined at the NRD's website.

A Brief Welcome

We have come a long way, where it seemed like just yesterday when I engaged in a lively graveyard hour debate with two other garrulous atheists who were not only unsupportive of activism for secular rights, but took the extra step to dissuade anyone who would put in the effort with fascinating relish.
