About

The Malaysian Atheists organization arose from the need for atheists in Malaysia to come together and be recognized as a significant segment of a society dominated by religious peoples and state-supported religious laws, policies and bodies. One of the primary functions of this organization is to serve as a united front defending atheists and other non-believers against discrimination and the violation of their basic right to belief (and disbelief) as outlined in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 18 where:

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

This organization also hopes to unite all free-thinking citizens to raise awareness of, defend and fight for progressive values such as the protection of women’s rights and under-represented groups, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, a more open and transparent government, separation of religion from state and education and the end of racial discrimination. We hope all atheists and other non-believers from Malaysia will find something of benefit from this site.
